i like to express my thoughts the old fashion way. i use blank cards to convey my feelings in my own little words handwritten by me. i may sound sentimental especially when beautifully worded cards for every occasion that clearly have usurped letter-writing are readily available out there. but that’s just me who prefers to write my own words.
i think handwriting is slowly drifting from our lives. there’s a mass of short/long distance services out there that require a mere push of buttons or clicking away. and there is the easy access to telephone for a more direct and personal way of communicating but there are times when writing is better. notes handwritten are permanent. i think they’re more meaningful and create lasting memories. i get tickled when i read (and re-read) some of the endearing notes i received. they’re very personal and evoke a lot of emotions.
after nearly three months, the postcard i mailed to our precious one from Warsaw has finally arrived. the first we received was one i sent from Czestochowa. that too, took seven weeks to come. i find it mind boggling that in this day and age of modern technology and communication, a postcard would take two or even three months to arrive from across the seas. at any rate, i’m just thankful that all have arrived in the mail, all addressed to our precious one. i tucked them all in a box which he will have someday. i’m sure i would be smiling, tickled even, to watch from above when he’s old enough to read and appreciate my handwritten love notes in those postcards.
