here is my entry to ailsa’s travel theme, short – a photo taken during a short visit to the shrine of our lady of lourdes in a small town at the foot of the pyrenees.
during a marian pilgrimage, i spent hours at the rock cave at massabielle where our lady appeared to st bernadette. i looked up and there she was, our lady so beautiful and radiant. prayer came with ease, natural and intimate. it was not hard to imagine mary in the flesh. it was not hard to picture the young bernadette on her knees. you simply felt it.
joy and awe engulfed me those first few hours at lourdes. i felt a very comforting presence with such incredible peace. though i spent many hours of prayers in this holy place, it seemed so short, it was hard to leave.
