the orchid show

thanks to lou, sunday brought us to the orchid show at the chicago botanic garden in glencoe. it was such a nice day, a most welcome respite from the arctic stretch of winter.

the botanic garden sans colors and blooms, was still blanketed with snow. quite charming though that i was delighted to snatch some shots. but as we inched our way into the greenhouses and galleries, we were transported in a paradise. we were greeted with an effusion of orchids. the show offered a wide variety of classic and exotic species, truly a feast to the eyes. of course, i went crazy taking photographs.

capping the day was a belated birthday treat at sushi mono, thankful for the gift of friendship and of life. happy birthday, b!
