known as queen of danube, budapest is one of my favorite cities in europe. i was there along with others on a pilgrimage. we had holy mass at the basilica of st stephen. the basilica was named after hungary’s first king, stephen, and whose incorruptible right hand is housed. we toured the city by motor coach and spent time in heroes square and fisherman’s bastion. a number of us strolled along the river front, with johann strauss’ blue danube waltz playing in my head, enjoyed wonderful architecture and crossed the famous chain bridge. i was charmed by this beautiful city, so steeped in history, culture and natural beauty.
here is the hungarian parliament building, all aglow. a photo i took from the boat while on a scenic cruise along danube – my entry to ailsa’s travel theme: glow
