grateful heart

summer is winding down and the garden obviously is past its peak. but some of the long running perennials are still abloom offering the most beautiful colors.

there is the snow on the mountain sprouted all over with inconspicuous little white flowers. and the bright yellow perennial along with the faintly scented white and purple phlox are still very much alive.

who could escape to notice the ever abundant rose of sharon towering above. still peppered with pink flowers and in the back, a young one flowering for the first time with white double petals. although the hydrangeas, the hostas and delphiniums are long gone, the red rose is still budding. it makes me smile.

i savor these fleeting moments every time i walk in the garden, finding myself in silent awe at every bloom giving glory to God.
