hubby and i joined our friends to witness the ordination to the priesthood of our dear friend, ervin pio caliente.  it was a joyous and solemn occasion held at the cathedral of st peter in the diocese of rockford.  fr ervin’s mom and brother came all the way from the philippines and his sister from australia for this wonderful event.  his father, physically unable to join, watched the live stream from the philippines.

please see lou of taking a deep breath’s beautiful account of the ordination ceremony.

the new fr ervin presided his first thanksgiving mass at his home parish, st thomas the apostle church in crystal lake.  well attended by parishioners and friends from both far and near.  twenty-three priests, three from the philippines, and one abbott concelebrated.   it was a beautiful liturgy.

fr ervin was a monk for eight years before he joined the diocese of rockford in 2011.   he is totally in love with Christ, living his vocation, very prayerful and faithfully serving God’s people.  his ‘yes’ to God’s call resonates throughout his ministry; he will be a wonderful priest.

congratulations fr ervin! to God be the glory!
