unwanted guests

urban geese are very discriminating when it comes to where they take residence.   golf courses and surrounding luxury home communities are their prime habitat much to the consternation of golf course owners and home residents.  they are the most unwelcomed neighbors and the most unwanted guests in the golf course. not only that they can wreak havoc on these pristine locations, they can be a golfer’s nightmare as well.  they can be noisy. they trample greens and fairways, depositing droppings everywhere.

during a 9H round with the hubby, he wasn’t too pleased when i asked him to stop the cart so i could take a few photographs. because even with the unsavory reputation of these birds, i do find them graceful and photogenic.  don’t you agree?

Those Canada Geese can be a nuisance. In London Parks they are very tame, and can be hand-fed. I like to see them flying in V-formation, honking away in the sky! I have never played golf, so don’t concern myself about the damage they do to courses. Maybe the club owners shouldn’t make the grounds so attractive! 🙂 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

i read that canadian geese fly in V-shape formation to reduce wind resistance and help them conserve energy. and it’s quite a pretty sight in the sky 🙂 the geese here are quite hostile as they are being shoved all the time. i’m sure golf course maintenance costs include fending off these birds. 🙂 best regards, Pete!

I don’t play golf any more due to the long waiting, but I won’t mind to stop taking photo of these beautiful geese. 🙂 Great photos, Lola!

I actually had no idea urban geese could be a nuisance. I suppose from what you described, it is annoying for your golfing husband who just wants to enjoy his game 🙂 To be honest, the urban geese looked right at home. In your earlier comment you mentioned they were being shoved all the time…and I hope they have somewhere to go and no one gets harmed in the process 🙂 Lovely shots. There’s a laid-back feeling about them 🙂

the geese are just being kept away from the golf course. they are not being harmed or anything that sort. Thank you Mabel. hope all is well. 🙂
